Turn A Drawing Into A Part You Can Print

Plenty of the geometry a workshop needs is not a model yet. It is a scanned print, a page in a folder, a photograph taken on a phone. Creative is the front of the pipeline: it reads that drawing, rebuilds the geometry as real CAD, and hands a printable model to the rest of the platform.

Each stage is deterministic and inspectable. You can see what the pipeline decided at every step rather than being handed a result and asked to trust it.

Image Preparation

The drawing is cleaned and reduced to a crisp black and white image, so faint lines survive and paper texture does not become geometry.

Dimension Recognition

Text and dimension callouts are read and then masked out, so the numbers on a drawing are never mistaken for part of the part.

Geometry Extraction

Strokes are reduced to a skeleton and fitted back as real entities: straight lines, arcs and full circles, with their endpoints snapped together.

Clean CAD Export

The result leaves as a DXF you can open in your own CAD package and edit like anything else, not a traced blob of polylines.

3D Reconstruction

The closed profile is lifted into a solid and exported as an STL, ready for a slicer or for the AM module to analyse.

Print Readiness Check

Before it hands over, Creative flags the faces that will need support and the orientation that needs least of it, using standard printing rules rather than a guess.

STEP 01

Bring The Drawing

A scan, an export or a photograph of an existing engineering drawing. No modelling, no tracing it by hand first.

STEP 02

Watch It Become Geometry

Each stage is shown as an image: the cleaned drawing, the detected structure, the fitted shapes and the dimensions that were read.

STEP 03

Take The CAD, Or Go Further

Stop at the DXF if 2D is all you needed, or carry straight on and let the profile be reconstructed as a solid.

STEP 04

Hand It To AM

The model moves to the AM module for full print analysis, already carrying everything known about where it came from.

Why It Matters

The Drawing Exists. The Model Does Not.

Most workshops are sitting on geometry they cannot print. Decades of drawings in filing cabinets, supplier prints that never came with a CAD file, a sketch from a customer who has no model to send. Every one of them means someone re-drawing a part that was already fully specified.

Creative exists to remove that step, and to do it in a way an engineer can check line by line.

Frequently Asked Questions

What shapes does it handle today?
Parts described by one profile lifted straight up: flat plates, brackets and covers with holes, slots and cutouts. Round symmetrical parts and multi-view reconstruction are on the roadmap.
Will it work on a photo from my phone?
Yes. Results are cleanest from a flatbed scan or a PDF export, where the linework is even and the page is square, so use one of those when you have the option.
Does it read the dimensions on the drawing?
Yes. Dimension text is detected and used, and just as importantly it is masked out of the image so the numbers are never vectorised as if they were geometry.
Can I use it without the other modules?
Yes. If all you want is a DXF from a drawing, that is a complete job on its own. Handing the model to AM is an option, not a requirement.
